My 3 year old daughter is very very red "down there". And she says it hurts, especially when we wipe her. What does this sound like? (she is not in diapers)

Bubble bath, soap, scented or colored toilet paper, drops of urine in panties, sweat, and improper wiping can all cause irritation or infection. At this age our daughter had frequent redness. Our doctor narrowed it down to bubble bath, soap, and slightly wetted in panties. We threw out the bubble bath completely on his advice, switched to phisoderm bar soap for bathing her, and gave more attention to her toilet abilities, teaching her to wipe from front to back only. Things cleared up quickly and rarely if ever return.
For the redness now, I would wash her with plain water, and then apply a cream of equal parts neosporin and hydrocortizone. It can be mixed together and kept in a small container for use. Our doctor recommends washing little girls with phisoderm. I would begin using it to prevent burning of that area but still maintaining good cleanliness.
If a fever develops take her in right away. If the redness doesn't go away in a few days after treating her carefully, see the doctor. Hope all goes well,

She probably isn't wiping very well. I have that problem with my daughter. A&D ointment is great for that and a lot of other things like burns, cuts etc. You can find it in the baby section at most stores on the same shelf as the diaper rash creams, the gold label is best, it's not thick and whit like the other creams, I use it on my kids and the rash is usually gone by the next day. i would still call your doctor or get her in.

Does she have any discharge? If so then it may be a yeast infection and she should get on an ani-biotic. If no discharge then I would just put some balmax on it (balmax is the best diaper rash cream) and give her some yogurt because that will also help with yeast infections and it is just to be on the safe side. If it does not go away in a day or two with the balmax see your pediatrition because somethings going on down there.

could be a diaper rash..even though she is not in diapers..she might not being wiped that well. its just probably a little raw from the poor toilet hygiene, moisture,if she sweats or even has a little drip drop every once in a while. apply some desitin or some cortizone cream every time she uses the potty. U can also get her those kandoo wipes that are available just for kids..it teaches good wiping habits plus cleanses very well in case they miss a spot. If it doesnt go away after the cream then consult her pdeiatrician..

My daughter gets like that sometimes. It is more than likely a heat rash. Use some diaper rash cream on it and it will go away.

Can be a infection. Um you said she isn't in diapers could she be wetting her undies and its causing problems, could she not be wiping herself clean and caused infection. But some diaper rash cream or vaseline tons of it on and see what happens.

could be a reaction to what ever it is you are wipeing her with,
do you use parfumed tissue, or the kandoo wet wipes? maybe scratchy materials, or the detergent you use could make her sratch down there. if it continues take her to the doctors, if you have other concerns take her to be cheked.

Does she take bubble baths or is she taking antibiotics? These could cause a yeast infection.
