It is an exercise of free speech.

No different than a "no soliciting" sign, although the use of the phrase "bible thumpers" could be a tad on the rude side. Perhaps a politer term, but frankly, nothing terribly wrong with such a sign.

I've frankly wanted something similar. People have a right to NOT be harassed in the middle of dinner by people peddling a religion they don't want to hear about. Free speech. Religious-types have the right to preach, the rest of us have the right not to hear it.

Well, some put up signs saying "No Solicitation". "Bible Thumping" would be a sort of "solicitation", I think. They are soliciting you to join their church or cult or religious movement, or whatever. Right? A person has a right to put up signs to let folks know where they stand: Keep Out! Keep Off the Grass! Beware of the Dog! No Tresspassing! No Hunting! Have a Nice Day!

Depends on the size of the sign, its color and its location to the house. It could be in bad taste. Assuming it is not really garish, It will benefit the Bible Thumpers and let them know they're wasting their time.

I think it means that the people there prefer not to have bible-oriented people knock and there door and present their ideas.

Although I like to have bible-thumpers come to my door, some people do not (or at least think they don't) and I guess they have a right to post signs about who they do and don't want visiting.

Sort of like the more popular "no soliciting" sign.

I think bible principles improve me and could further improve the world but certainly people have the right to choose otherwise.

Do you really have that many "Bible Thumpers" come to your house that would make it necessary to have a sign outside to discourage them from knocking on your door? Where on earth do you live?

I use to think a good idea but I tried it.. It was
a bad Idea.. I got more Bible Thumpers.. lots
of Atheist coming to me. It was a lot of wasted
time dealing with them. Best way to get rid of
them is call them gay if they start putting down
the bible. That won't get rid of them all but it will get rid of many. After calling them gay The ones that continue coming to are probably would be really gay.

Cool. Bible thumpers bring out the worst in me. I wouldn't be responsible for my actions if they came knocking on my door so best to fore warn them.

Heck, I don't mind talking to the Jehovahs when they come around. Actually last time they came up to our car window as we were getting in and buckling up. That was odd.

But the sad part is, these religious folks are usually like 16-year-old girls, and they're wandering around a rural town knocking on doors. It's just not safe anymore!

Not a bad idea. Of course I would miss out on the fun of scaring the hell outta the ones who come to my door by acting possessed. Some days, I just don't feel up to the theatrics, though, so this would be very convenient for me.

Idiotic because each time they see the sign, they think about the folks that annoy them, rather than the very occasionally that the "Bible Thumpers" actually come by, and then they can just say, thanks, but we aren't interested, or just not answer the door.
