LOL @ A Shepherd: "Excepting" Christ would appear to be the problem....

2006-10-19 13:58:32 · update #1

@ IdahoMike: So let me get this straight -- they go to church at least occasionally; they teach their kids to pray; and on all the polls they check "Christian" and if anyone asks them they'll say they believe in Christ -- but that doesn't make them Christians? So, what, they don't have the right tattoos, or something?

Stereotyping with word association, eh?

Is God in the government?
Is God in our schools?
Is God allowed anywhere in the courts of America?
I bet you can answer NO to each.

If man can fix these problems, why hasn't the answer come?

God is no longer allowed where He could be most effective. Now that man feels he can accomplish this alone, God has left.

Look at the world today. Proof that evolution isn't possible.

It isn't Christians ideal that the prisons are overflowing, it is the absence of God in our country where evil is allowed to reign.

An individual can be called a Christian but not a country. You are not a Christian because you believe in God or believe in a "Higher Power" or because you go to church. You are not a Christian because the majority of people in your nation believe they are good and your Father and Mother are not Jewish, Muslim or Buddhist, etc...
John 14:6 states - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me".
A person is a Christian because of salvation through Jesus Christ.

The US is not Christian! Some people in this country are Christian, the country has many people who are not. Being a Christian is about excepting Christ as savior and involves a relationship with God. A country can not have that. Many more people than admit it are not Christians in the U.S. Prisons are overflowing with criminals, some might be Christians (who also sin) and many are not Christians.

First, the U.S. is not Christian - it was built on freedom of religious persecution, but founded on Christian-Judea principles.

Second, prisons are overflowing in the U.S. because there are people who break the law. Our form of government and our judicial systems have their faults, but so far, no one has come up with a better system which still allows it's citizens to live in a free society.

Last, Christians are just people - the only difference is that they have been forgiven. A person who has truly accepted Jesus as Lord will still do stupid things against God's principles because they are human.

The US is about 80% NOMINAL Christian. But people who actually crack the book open are considerably fewer in number. In is interesting, though, that Christian prison ministries have a better record of stopping repeat offenders than Social Services has managed to muster.

There is a lot of difference in saying you are a christian and being one... The U.S. is not a "christian " nation... no Nation on earth is a " christian nation"... The majority of people in the U.S. are not of the Christian Faith... just because they may go to a church now and then dose not make them a Christian and more than going to a mosque makes one a uslim...the difference being the ones going to the mosque go to keep their heads on their shoulders... the christians who go to church now and then got to make it look good to some one...

It called accountability and individuality. The individuals in prisons are held accountable for their actions are paying the price for it just like you will in the end be held accountable for your sinful actions in the end like everyone else. Don't be a racist. Canada isn't special and it is known for racism against minority and other discrepancies. It is also known that Christians in Canada are in prisons also. What is ur excuse for ur country and ur actions? May God help and have mercy on you!

Shalom

The U.S. is not Christian, just like Europe is not Christian. The U.S. may have more Christians that the rest of the world, but it is not a Christian nation. The reason our jails are overflowing is because we are "not" Christian.

A review of your own history will set you straight.

Well, the Christians have to put the non-Christians somewhere. :o)

And if you can't see that this is sarcasm, then I really feel sorry for you.

Same can be said of Muslims countries bud, so what's your point?

Poor judgement. Sin. Drunkeness. Poverty ( some guys get arrested just for a place to stay & eat ). Being a christian has nothing to do with it, every religion & every person sins. They just broke a worldly law, not necessarily God's, they just got caught.
