You need to talk to Father Guido Sarducci. He explains that there's actually a price for each sin. You start out with a million dollars, and every sin you commit deducts from that sum. So murder is like $250K, stealing is like $100K, and masturbation is like 45 cents.

For the purposes of sending you to hell, yes sins are equal. Its like it doesnt matter if you drop a couple ounces of motor oil on your white dress shirt or a gallon. Either way it is messed up and needs to be cleaned by cleaner you dont have!

For practical purposes we all know there is a difference between sins and the sins that deny or insult God are the worst. Then the sins that destroy us and other people the most are 2nd worst.

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." -Matthew 22:36-40

Put any color dye in white, and it is no longer white.
Put any sin in Holy and sinless, and it is sinful.
God does not want to judge you in order to punish you.
He sent His only begotten Son to die a terrible death on a cross
so He wouldn't have to punish you. The blood He shed there can
erase any and all penalties God imposes because of sin. That blood makes a sinner whiter than snow, and removes sin so that He never more sees it. Sin has its penalties, but after it is covered by Christs substitutionary sacrifice, man can hold you responsible for it, but in Gods eyes, it is all gone.

If you steal a dollar or a million dollars, is it still stealing?
It isn't the idealogy of "levels" of sin, but acknowledging that sin is rebelling against God's commandments.
In God's eyes, sin is wrong, regardless of what was done. Sin separates you from God. It makes no difference what sin it was, it still separates you from Him.

Sin will be judged before God. Better to rectify it now than later.

Yes, you're right, because it is not the action, but what is found in the heart of the sinner. Example, thinking it is okay to sin, because they will be forgiven, or because of all the good they have done, a short balancing of the scales.

The example you might want to look to is Moses. Just one sin prevented him from entering the Promise Land, despite all the good he had done. The question to ask oneself is whether it was what he did, or whether it was that he thought that because of all the good he did, that one thing wouldn't count?

Presuming to know how God views something is making ourselves equal to him.

That's stupid. God does not say that. If you read the scriptures you will see that there is a vast difference in sins. God sees some sin as worse that others. What He says is, even the smallest most insignificant sin will condemn you to hell.

Honestly, I think that God is deeper than that. Surely he sees that killing someone in cold blood is worse than telling a lie.

I think that whole "sin is sin in God's eyes" has been fabricated by the zealots as a way to scare people into believing they will burn in Hell unless they do what they say.

Since when does God treat sins all the same? There are greater sins and lesser sins. And it is up to God to do the judging. We are just humans and cannot assume that God has our standards in this earthly life.

What if you first lied about killing your brother when you hadn't, then you actually went and did it?

Which sin is the one that lands you in hell?

Is it the first sin (i.e., the "original" sin)? Or is it the worst sin?

Okay, I'll stop now.

I'll try to clear this up for you..Nobody said they are equally bad...The fact is the penalty for sin is death...Which truly isn't the problem either because God has chosen to pay that penalty for you if you accept his atonement...Jesus Who was God in the flesh came to the world to do just that overcome sin and be perfect and die in your place. Now God's ability to judge? God is the creator of us all any good that you deem you have and your ability you think you have to judge...God created..Your ability to reason...God created...The ability you think you have to judge God...You guessed it God created that..God is righteous...He created righteousness...You need not worry about God's ability to judge you..God prefers not to judge you that is why he came to the world to pay the penalty for you...He came to the world as a man Jesus Christ A perfect man who did no evil to suffer and die for you....Now you think you should be HIS judge? He paid the price for you so he wouldn't have to judge you.
