Yes it is very comforting knowing that when i die i am conscious of nothing just like i am sleeping. But the bible also says why we die that is because we are all imperfect and the wage of sin is death. But God gives us hope by sending jesus to die for our sins. because of this we have the hope after we die to be resurected on earth. What a wonderful hope. That rev 21 3,4 gives us "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Ecl 9:5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.

Romans 6:23  For the wages sin pays is death

John 5: 28,29 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

I had no specific religion, but i read, study and believe in the Bible, as the Word and instruction from God. It gives me hope is times of despair, comfort in times of trouble. True Peace in times of restleness and anxiety. I gives me contentment with my current situation, with what i have. Appreciate that i am still alive and with my family and friends.
The Bible gives me reason, meaning and purpose on why and who I am
Life can be painful, cruel and boring sometimes, but life must go on and the Word of God gives Love.

I was raised Christian and tried to follow those ideas for fear of going to hell. It just always scared me to think some people would go to hell, like some sort of contest.

Then I started studying science and nature and history, and feel so much better being agnostic. I hope there is some sort of higher power, but have no proof of this one way or another. I feel comfort in what ever will be will be. It's ok not to know everything. To say I'm unsure is so honest.

I'm an atheist and I think it's silly to fear death -- since it can't be avoided.

It's even sillier to imagine that some part of a person can escape death, when we know that human beings are a part of nature and in nature, everything living dies and everything dead rots.

Therefore, I don't worry about death. It will come, I won't like it but I won't be able to stop it, and then it will be over. What's to worry about?

Yes yes & yes!!! I would gladly die for Jesus Christ, just as he died for me. I can't understand how people can so absent mindedly think that we are just some random accident & that after we die, it's all over... It just dosen't make sense!
