I don't know where "brenda" is working, but her prices are not reasonable in a strong economy.

General dentists charge less than endodontic specialists. The endodontist has to complete years more training and has very expensive equipment in order to treat difficult cases.

Dr. Sam is right, there are still places in the world where the only choice is to pull a tooth and end up not being able to eat solids when you're 45.

Finding the apex of a microscopic molar canal (and there may be as many as 4 of them) without breaking through the root is not something you just wake up one morning knowing how to do.

If a dentist is charging less than $200 to do a molar endo, they may have obtained their degree from a guy selling them out the back of his van.

You got a good deal, quit complaining.

No actually that is close to what a root canal cost. It's slightly high. Average root canal is 400-750.00. Depending on your age, you don't have much choice. Even if you had dental insurance that 1 root canal is about all you would get in one year. Dental insurance have deductables and yearly limits. Dentist are making very good money! You did get slightly ripped off. Just take better care of your teeth if your young. Once they start to go, it's all over. One thing you should know is not all root canals last forever. I have had some that lasted for a year and had to be done over again! God Bless!

That's probably not a bad price - I paid $200 and I have insurance. That was just for the root canal too, the crown is another $350

NO, you did not get robbed. That is almost exactly what my office charges. We also charge $825.00 for a crown.

The thing is, when people hear how much dental work costs, they don't truely understand why it costs so much. I have sat down and averaged out what the supplies, salaries, electricity, and water cost to do a root canal in my office, and trust me, the dentist doesn't pocket near what people think he will.

I always tell people who ask why dentisty is so expensive, that if they want cheap work, then not to be surprised or mad when that cheap work falls apart in about a 1/4 of the time that a more expensive, better quality would last.

That sounds like the norm for a molar and maybe a bit on the cheap side.

At least we can GET root canal treatment to save teeth, unlike in some countries with national health care.

People DEMAND the best care and newest equipment, but don't stop to think how it is paid for.

When was the last time you bought a TV without asking how much it was going to cost?

No you didn't get rooked. That is about the going price for a root canal without the crown.

posteriors teeth from $250-$300
molars from $400-$450 no more
I can tell you the prices because I have work for a lot Dentist and that's what they charge some they charge from $300 to $400 any tooth hope that helps next time

Pricing structure for our health care treatments is a complete scam.

The same procedure costs differently depending on who is paying. For example, a root canal is $1300 if pay by a patient. If the patient is insured by Delta, the dentist office will charge them say $850, then later received a payment from Delta for $680. If the patient is insured by Blue Cross PPO, the dentist office would charge yet another price to Blue Cross.

Look at the bright side, it could be deductible on your tax return this year.

Best wishes.

No, you didn't get "rooked". Why didn't you ask how much it was going to cost before-hand? PS---the crown will be around $800-$1000. Nobody said saving a tooth was going to be cheap
