Generally not, though it depends on the plastic of the water bottle. If it's PET, then you're ok (check the bottom where the recycling triangle is, it'll be labeled there). HDPE (high density polyethylene) or PP (polypropylene) will leach solvents and generally a plastic taste to the vodka. PET is the type of plastic that liquor bottles are made from...they impart the least amount of plastic taste to the liquor. However, you'll notice that none of the high quality spirits are bottled in plastic for this reason.
Not dangerous, just tastes plastic-y.

You guys saying that vodka comes in plastic bottles are idiots. Yea it comes in plastic bottles but it has to be a certain type of plastic that doesn't leach chemicals when exposed to alcohol. Putting alcohol in a plastic bottle that wasn't made for alcohol can cause cancer. It probably won't make you sick but it has long term health effects

the thing is, the plastic bottles for vodka, sold in stores, are much thicker than water bottles. i put my vodka in water bottles every single time, but after about 2 days, if threes a few shots left in the water bottle that you want, it s not worth it. it gets a very "off" smell. my method is , if you put it in a water bottle, get drunk on it, even pass out till the morning, but the next day, drink it before 3pm
