If you and or the missing person are US citizens, and or are in the United States, assemble a copy of all written material you can. Pictures, memorabilia, RNA from the missing person (hair, teeth, old shoes, etc, military dog tags, ID cards, high school year book.), take this to the local office of the FBI, the Federal Bureau Of Investigation. Assemble lists of teachers, employers with addresses and phone numbers written down. This should include former friends, lovers, and wannabees of the missing. Politely arrange to speak with a Special Agent. Do not bring in the material initially. If they are real busy, try another time. Look up the number to call in any public telephone book. Have the stuff in handy plastic see through bins, stackable with lids and labeled well with magic markers.

Well, if the person has vanished, hopefully you told the cops about it 10 years ago. Honestly, if the cops haven't found the missing person, there's probably not much hope. Because the cops and detective and the FBI work together to find missing persons. So, if they have yet to find this person, this person may have actually been murdered or died along the way.
