Dog food doesn't have the right stuff for a cat, but a cat's food has everything a dog needs. Not fair, huh?

Here is some help:

Get a free 7 pound bag of Purina One cat food, take the 30 day challenge at www.purinaone.com

and if you dont' use this brand or don't have pets, please get the coupon anyway and donate the coupon to a local animal shelter. The coupon is good for $7.99 worth of cat food, which would really help out shelter pets. Thank you!

I have seen cats eat dry dog food before. So it should be okay.
But I would keep a good supply of dry and wet cat food available in case this happens again.
If I know I am not able to go out to the store in three or four days, I would buy enough food to last a week before needing replenished. I buy the big bags of dry cat food like IAMs or Whiskas and be sure that I have extra food in case I am not able to get to the store when I need to.
Sometimes in Winter, when the snow builds up high, driving is near impossible for me so I make sure that when I know that there is a snowstorm coming that I am prepared by stocking my pantry with both human and cat food. So if a blizzard does block me from going anywhere, I have enough food for both me and my cats.

You know, it probably will be fine for a day until you can get to the store. Just remember though that cats are considered to be carnivores and cannot eat dog food on a regular basis. There's proteins that are only found in meats that cats require, and that dogs don't. Dogs are like humans and can eat both meats and veggies.. which is what dog kibble mostly is.. a blend of meats and veggies.

But yeah, go ahead and feed it to your cat for the night until you can get to the store tomorrow, it won't harm your kitty.

The dog food will be fine in an emergency. Or some fresh meat would be fine as well.

Considering fish is not a cats natural food, I wouldnt suggest a can of tuna, specially if you have the dog food. The fish cat food has lots more additives in it to make it healthy for cats.

For one day it won't hurt for a small amount to be fed to the kitty. However it's not a good practice to folloe because cat food has certain nutrients that cats need and if the cat develops a taste for dog food, it could hurt her health long term.

My cats LOVE it when I run short on food - I split a can of tuna between the 4 of them and they do not leave 1 morsel on the plates.

I really don't think that it is good to give a cat dog food, Cats and dogs have different diet needs. Although once may not do any real harm it really shouldn't be done.
But that being said I myself have underesimated when to buy the food and had to give my cats a can of tuna. (tuna isn't very good for cats but they absolutly love it) So now-a-days I keep extra dry food just in case.

Ya why not its really all the same.....my cat would eat the dogs food out of the dog bowl but if we had to put it in his bowl he would turn his nose up at it.....it was kinda funny.......the only down side was the cat is now almost 20Lbs cause of his sneaky behavior......good luck

Hi if you have a can of tuna fish that would be great, yes dog food would be fine , shrimp, or fish that you can boil , that is good too,
good luck
