Is it true that all kibbles have mold in it??? A vet told me that kibbles have mold, so our pets are pretty much eating mold everyday??

It is not the vet I take my dogs, it is my friend's vet who said that, but it is not one brand only, all of them.

I'm allergic to mold and have never had a bad reaction to dog food, and I work in pet stores.
Diamond pet food had some fungus in it that was really dangerous about a year ago. That's one of the many reasons I don't feed my dog any foods with corn in them.

Do you mean The dog food dogs eat? Or the brand Kibbles n' Bits. Either way they don't have mold in them. The vet is wrong. Dogs would get deathly sick from eating Mold and there would be a saftey recall on all the dog food. So there is no possible way.
Hoped this helped!

I used to manage a pet store and a lot of the commercially produced foods are stored in their warehouses for years. If it has not been tested for the amount of moisture in the product it is highly probable that it will mold.
But mold itself is not injected into the food. You need to have the right conditions for mold to form. Dark, moist, warm atmosphere is the proper conditions for mold to form.

I have heard that if your dog won't eat a certain brand of food, or a certain bag of food, that it may contain mold. Dogs have a much more sensitive sense of smell than we do and wouldn't eat it if it did.

Technically speaking about all dry foods human or animal have SOME mold in them. Mold is like bacteria, everywere- clean uaully means low amount not NONE.

If the bags of dog food get wet, yes the food will become moldy. Once opened you can see it on the food. If you get a bag w/mold just return to the store & they will credit you.

A lot of the commercially available brands of petfood are produced using grain, etc. that was deemed unfit for human consumption. If we can't safely consume it, I'm not sure why we would think our animals can.

The thing about vets is this...somewhere, someplace, is the vet that graduated LAST in their class. Maybe YOU have found him (or her).
