I've heard this load of bull myself and don't get it either. Atheism is merely the nonbelief in God, not a hatred of him. I certainly don't hate God. My thought on that is; "How can I hate something that doesn't exist?" Don't hate God at all. Just don't believe in God.
I have to admit, though, there are certain BELIEVERS that royally tick me off that borders on hatred of them, but still not a hatred of God. Most of the time it doesn't even come close to hatred of believers, either, just a fair bit of irritation and dislike.
In my opinion, save for the really belligerent, pushy types that never leave you be, most believers aren't worth my thoughtwaves, let alone wasting my breath in dealing with them. They have a right to their beliefs whether I share them or not. Long as they're not ramming the Bible down my throat, I really don't care.

I may not understand why you don't believe in God, but I don't think you hate Him. I also think you will get a lot of reaction from this post.
I just hope you are not one of the Atheist that will not allow people who believe to do as they wish. I will not argue your right not to believe if you don't argue with mine to believe.

For an atheist to hate god would be like another person hating fire breathing dragons because the eat fairy princesses. It doesn't make sense.
Now - some atheists hate lots and lots of stuff and some theists like to think that atheists hate God but those are different questions.

I would hate god, if I believed in him. So for me it is kinda true. My atheism started with a questioning that turned to hate, then in relief I let go of the hate with my awakening to my current perseption of reality, as an atheist.

Not2Nite has a valid point. Atheists are doing MORE to help Chistians keep the name of God alive and well at Y/A.
Isn't like a little like a prude saying Did you see what Hefner put into this month's playboy!
Makes everyone want to go look!

First of all, you just want attention. Secondly, It's *atheist* not *Atheist*. Why would you hate something you don't believe in? Just because you say you don't believe in God, doesn't mean he exists. Same goes for theists. But you are going to be very dissapointed when you die.

Atheists don't hate God, they don't believe in him. And that's fine, they should be able to think, or believe, in what they want.

Silly man, Atheists can hardly hate what they do not believe in although there may be some atheists that hate those that do believe.

Whenever I read answers claiming that I believe in their god deep down, like the ones from fundies to your question, I am all the more convinced that their convictions are based in delusion. If they had some kind of line to the absolute truth in the universe, they wouldn't be making such laughably false claims about me.

one doesn't hate something that one doesn't even believe exists.
i don't beleive in Peter Pan -- it's impossible for me to hate Peter Pan.
It makes no sense.
I once also heard a moron ask me this: "Why are atheists so obsessed with God if they don't believe in him?"
THEY AREN'T!! Again, same reason. People like to think they are, and believers choose to harass atheists and others abotu their beliefs, triggering a response and, thus, their accusation that ATHEISTS are the ones who are obsessed...when it's the other way around.
