I like downloading things that are helpful. any tips on good software?

I have found Google's Earth to be a pretty remarkable download. With this program, I can get a sky view of my condo, my city, or just about anywhere in the world. Very cool.

It depends on what you want and what interests you the most.
If you are into photography a lot, you cannot do without Picasa.
It is fast, very intuitive.
Music? iTunes. The best.
Wordprocessor? Try Openoffice. It is the same as Ms Office - same look and feel. But it is free.
Google has some nifty little software to make your life easy. Some of them are very useful, like searching your computer using Google's. It is lightning fast.
Other than that, I dk what to suggest.

Windows 2000 Pro - My disk is partitioned so if anything happens on my XP Partition, can log on 2000 and diagnose and solve.
Adobe Reader 6.0 - Pdf Files
Office 2003. - Powerpoint, word etc
Microsoft Picture It - Edit My pictures
DFX For windows media player - Enhace yur sound experience.

Without a doubt it is Google Desktop. Imagine searching your computer like searching the Internet. Every file you've every touched, created, or just looked at...it's all searchable. Simply brilliant!!!

I like Google Desktop. It has weather Games and much more. It lets me check my email from my Desktop. It even lets you chat and even talk to your contacts.
