To me, the most important thing is to do something you love to do. I've had a lot of jobs in my life: I was good at some and others I did well. It wasn't until I became a teacher that I found both together.
If you're still in school, talk to a counselor. There are all kinds of tests you can take which match your personality traits with those required of certain jobs. If you have the self-discipline to really do all the homework, please try John Bear's "What Color is Your Parachute?". It's an excellent book that helps you pinpoint your strong and weak points, the kinds of things you already like to do and how to make those into a career, and gives important strategy hints about creating a job inside a company that might not even know they need you. It's a lot of work and will take several months to do properly, but hey, we're talking about the rest of your (working) life, right? It's worth the effort.
"What Color is Your Parachute?" is published by 10 Speed Press. The link is listed below. Good luck!

I am in school for nuclear medicine technologists...I am going to the clinicals (hospitals) recently and really enjoy it. It is usually a 2 yr program. After that you work at the hospital usually mon- fri appointments. You image patients after you administer a radioactive substance into their body. It is really interesting to see how the body is imaged with some very new technology. Your job is always changing depending upon the week. You will be in demand in healthcare. Dont wait to go to school like I did, I am 27 and I wish I went while I was young.

Well, just remember that whatever you decide to study may not always be what you end up doing.

I went to college and studied Classics (Latin/Greek) with a double minor in French and Philosophy. Couldn't afford Grad school, so I went to work for a financial corp writing 401(k) and other retirement plans. Now I'm a stay-at-home mom. Next job will be completely different.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do. Just ENJOY what you do or else you will be miserable and may not succeed in it.
