Because you are "doing God's Will"

Who says God didn't make him/them do that anyway?

Great question and sorry for your friend's loss. Hell doesn't exist though so no worries

Well, to choose to kill one's self means to refuse the life that God has given you and for this reason may condemn the one who does it.

However, most people who commit suicide as an escape from the trials and tribulations they have to deal with from the world and cannot handle it. I feel that suicide for many would have been like Jesus choosing not to undergo the Passion when He was praying on the Mount of Olives, though Jesus could endure such we are merely human and some can only take such physical and mental abuse up to a certain point.

I'd say everyone has a limit to what they can take before choosing suicide. Disabilities/Handicaps, loss of family and friends, and serious illness are just a few that many could not take; would you endure the pain that Job went through? If someone strapped you to a table, poked out your eyes, cut out your tongue, removed your hands and feet and did much worse, when is it too much, or if your whole family was to forsake you, you had no friends to turn to, you had no job or were fired, and no one would lend you a hand would Jesus be enough?

When one is dead there is no more hope. But if you are alive then there is hope. The dead know not anything, nether do they have any more to do with the living, and only the living can ask God for forgiveness. You can not ask God for forgiveness before you commit a sin, because that would make God an accessory to that sin, and God will not, can not, and has never committed a sin. Sin is transgression of the Decalogue (the 10 commandments), and if you die while committing a sin, then you can not passably go to heaven. I am sorry about you friend, I know what it is to loose a friend.
There is no eternal unhappiness. After the judgment, we will have only two possibilities, eternal life, or eternal death. There is NO eternal torture. there is NO God sponsored torture, not now, nor in the past, nor in the future. God is not vindictive, He is loving. But I will tell you who is vindictive, satan, that's who, he hates us, and wants to see us all destroyed by God in the judgment.

You did not ask to be created and you did not witness your own creation.

Life is a gift from the Creator and one should appreciate this gift and make every effort to develop the will to survive and to see this life through to the end without looking for the easy way out, which may well be the toughest way out.

How are we to know that the victim of suicide wanted attention and hoped all along to be helped?

Why didn't the friends and brothers notice any signs of despair and why were they of any help to the victim, before the final moment?

The victim may even have led himself into such action and therefore must pay for his deeds. Who Knows?

1. Your assuming that there is a heaven and a hell. for all we know there may not be anything after death.

2. No one has said that if a person commits suicide they go to hell.

3. I'm not very religious, but i thought that you get into heaven if you were a good person.

4. And besides isn't God forgiving???

5. Personally i wouldn't worry too much about it, your friends brother was sad and now he has been released from that suffering. He is dead. He wont be feeling any pain anymore.

Hope this helps...

I was told it is the case, but then again I don't know if it's true. I think it has something to do with finishing your life before it's time to go. I also heard that in most cases, the spirit will not be satisfied as there is unfinished business and will start haunting the living. Because death doesn't solve the problem or emotional pain, the spirit will still feel it, hence it becomes unfinished business. But anyway, I hope this doesn't scare you :)

Jesus never said anything about this. I am assuming the comment came from a Christian. I know the Roman Catholic Church's official stance is that suicide will prevent you from being buried in a Church cemetery and gives you a one way ticket to hell.

Why? The sacredness of life comes up. I believe Pope John Paul II articulated this as he approached his own death, the idea that suffering brings us closer to God.

I suppose if you believe that, don't commit suicide. If you don't believe that, go ahead. I've heard that there are even places in Europe that will help you along with this and that are legal.

Do we have a true separation of church and state in the US?

Scott,
I believe that the Lord takes mercy upon those who are ill, not rational or in so much pain that they take their own lives. How do we know that, that is not their plan? I had a brother who committed suicide so I know how awful it is and all the unanswered questions that are left behind. Yes, they make a choice to do this, but who in their right mind would make that kind of a choice. God is merciful and good. I know I'll see my brother again.

I think the thought on this idea has changed. In my church, (Catholic) it was considered a mortal sin if one killed oneself. This person would go to Hell- do not pass go, etc.

Now, the Church has changed its views on suicide. Many people take their own lives at a very low point. Many feel no one cares for them and they see no way out. The Church feels these individuals are "not in their right minds." Temporarily mentally ill, perhaps.

So, maybe these poor souls do not go to Hell.

I am sorry for your loss. Your friend made a permanent choice over a temporary situation (my view). I hope my answer gives you a different view.

Heaven and hell only exist for those that believe in them.

It's is a sin for those that believe in sins.

If a person suffers so much from life or from an illness (mental or otherwise), it doesn't make sense for them to suffer an eternity in hell for commiting suicide.

This and many countless holes in religion are reasons for why I am not religious.

According to the bible, we are not to kill. This includes ourselves, by doing so, we are taking away what God gave us~ life. I do think however, that it is in noone's place (on earth)to judge, condemn or dictate who goes to hell. If you think about how ludicrous that is, it may ease your fears. I've heard a psychic say, some people just come into this world (prison, by which I mean the only way out is truly death) & are just square pegs trying to fit in round holes. Either way darling, that's God's decisions and rules, so let NOONE tell u otherwise.
