I'm in the Student Accounting Society in my college. We are raising money for the St. Jude's Childrens' Cancer Research Hospital. At our table in the halls of the College Of Business, we had a bowl of candy, for everyone who donated money...

A kid walked by the table, grabing a handful of candy. We stopped him and asked, "Do you want to donate?" and he said, "No." and kept walking.

Minutes later, another kid came walking up from nowhere. As he was passing by, it appeared that he was aligning his hand to pass over the candy bowl to make a quick grab....We watched.

His hand swiftly passed over the candy, and dropped a crisp $10 bill in the donation jar....We called to him, saying, "Hey, do you want a piece of candy?!" and he walked away with the same stoic determination as the kid who stole the candy just minutes before him.

He's my new hero. Giving so much, and taking so little....and not even making a big deal about... is he the silent hero?? lol

We need many more people like that in this world.
I wish people would give just a moment in their day and do just one kind thing.
I would make the world a much better place to live.
Thank you for sharing your experience, it has made my day.

it was really amazing!making a wish is a part of the belief associated in seeing a falling star.just like when we blow the candles in our birthday cake.if you believe that what you wish for will come true then i guess there is no harm in wishing.just don't rely to it alone because if we just sit and do nothing a thousand falling stars will not help.

His tooth is probably not sweet and he probably has a cancer story to tell.

Yes, he is a hero.

But don't begrudge the first boy his candy. The innocence of childhood is only with us for such a very short time!

That is something.

It's common to see famous people donate and then make sure the newspapers know all about it, but it's very refreshing to have someone donate anonymously.

Maybe a new trend is starting.

One will take advantage of a situation while another will provide a hidden act of kindness. "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." The first teenager was blind to loving acts while the second teenager had learned to respond to the needs of others through his heart of love.

That's so nice to hear about. Teenagers are so frequently given a bad name by people like the first kid- it's good to know there are good ones out there!
