That sounds like a great idea! Just make sure guests don't forget to do it. Also, make sure guests don't "shovel" it into their pockets or purses LOL!

I think the candy buffet is a really really cute idea. You may want to make it a rule that kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult or the candy will be gone in 5 minutes. Also another really cute idea I saw at a wedding I was at last weekend was a kids only table with coloring books, glow in the dark sticks/necklaces, crowns and all that good stuff. Do something fun for the kids too. If you do this idea make the kids feel special and put a sign that says "NO GROWN UPS ALOUD" Best wishes!!!

Seems a little tacky, but you could probably pull it off if you made it really cute. However, what about sanitation? Kids will put their hands in it, some adults will pick up candy (without having washed hands) and put it back, etc. If I were a guest I doubt I would take any. How about using cute containers of candy in your colors to incorporate into a unique centerpiece?

That sounds very nice. You dont have to give favors out on the tables and it is a good idea NOT to. I have notice from every wedding I have attended that most people leave the favor behind! So I will not give out any gift at the wedding (except the center piece which will go to 1 person at each table).
Instead I plan to give gifts out to the women at my bridal shower because only women want the gifts anyway.

Yes, this is acceptable. Id even go so far as to say cute.
However if you are on a tight budget, you could forgo favors completely. They are a nice addition, but are not mandatory. Most guests leave their favors behind (forgot it, didnt need/want it, etc).
You wouldnt invite people over to your house for dinner and give them gifts for coming.... a wedding reception is generally a big dinner celebration. Its a party like any other. Keep that in mind.

The wedding favor should reflect the feeling of the wedding. The do-it-yourself feel of the candy buffet favor seems ungracious in some way. Like the favor was an after thought and this was your solution. How about cookies with icing in your colors with your monogram on it, wrapped in cellophane with raffia? OR Why not, still have the buffet and have it as a project for your brides maids to fill the containers and make an event out of it? I feel as though the favors should be offered, already assembled and ready to go as part of your place settings, otherwise, your guests may feel like they couldn't be bothered with creating their own favor and forgo it and then you would have a lot of extra candy on your hands.....just my thoughts. But, it is your wedding and I wish you congrats and a life of happiness!

I think a candy buffet is the best idea, that is what I am going to do at my wedding. It is a fun idea. I am picking my boyfriends and mine favorite candy and I am going to have little Chinese food boxes to put the candy in.
Something else is I am going to have pieces of chocolate on little plates on the tables around the center pieces. We love candy and it is a good way to include it in out wedding.

I think thats a very unique idea. You can possibly get the candy wrappers with your names and wedding date on it if you order the candy offline. Make sure you give the guests fancy little baggies to put the candy in.
