I got this tattoo in the spring of 01 at a place in Raleigh NC. I've never noticed anything about it other than the fact that its a REALLY BAD piece of flash work. About a week ago, I noticed that there are bug bite size bumps within the lines of the tattoo. They do not itch, but just knowing they are there entices me to mess with them. A friend suggested I may have eaten something containing too much iodine. Anyone have any knowledge on this subject?

Same thing happened to me. When I talked to a professional tattoist about it, he told me that although it's over 10 years old now, my body is still trying to push the color out especially since I had it recolored 4 times since I first got it. He also said I could be having allergic reactions to it since I started getting allergic to everything under the sun only about 4 years ago. He also asked if I let the sun light hit it, which can also cause bumps to arise on the tattoo's.

Best thing to do is go into a professional tattoo place, ask them about it. If they say they don't know, or never seen it before, then they are either not professionals, or totally stupid. It's quite common for tats to do this and anyone who's ever done a tattoo should be able to answer your questions.

Maybe something you ate now that you didn't eat for all those 5 years, caused an allergic reaction. Or it can also be that the area of your skin where the tattoo is, came in contact w/ something that might have caused an allergy.
