A Pug's character is unique in that he is a clown at heart with a terrific sense of humor but at the same time he carries himself with great dignity. They are not too delicate for fun and games. A pug is anxious to please, anxious to learn and anxious to love. His biggest requirement is that you love him back.

pugs are VERY noisy!
they snort and snot all over you haha great fun at 5am!
people can be put off by their grunting but deep down they are loving towards their owner, and lots of fun. they are cheeky and mischevious, ugly yet cute.
pugs are the best!
only take on a pug if you have lots of time to clean them as they collect alot of dirt in their wrinkle just above their nose, wouldnt you if you had to stick your head right into your food bowl!
they are also prone to choking on their food which can be remedied by tapping them in between their shoulder blades, if this fails then put your finger over their nose as this will force them to cough back up the food!nice!
they are also prone to acne and can need vetenary treatment so just be warned that they can be quite expensive.
pugs cant breed during the summer, they overheat and will need to be kept cool, in winter obviously they need to be kept warmer as they are more susceptible to the cold.
during the summer try and keep bees and wasps away from them as they can go into anephalactic shock if stung!
other than that happy pugging! make sure you look into the breeding before you purchase some pug breeding isnt very good and can affect their chances when put into competitions.

Pugs are very loving dogs that form a strong bond with there owners... dont leave it alone for long periods of time, dont just expect it to stay alone in another room, dont think you will be able to just leave it outside because they are VERY sensitive to the weather (hot and cold). They have to be strictly an inside dog with limited stays outside... they need alot of exercise because Pugs are prone to getting a bit pudgy :) but dont overdue the exercise... its trial and error with any pet but please do your research before getting a Pug. I'm not saying dont.. I'm just saying be prepared to spend alot of time with it and also be prepared for some serious medical problems especially in whelping puppies. Pugs are awesome for the right person, ours is almost 2 and I just wouldn't trade her for anything in this world :)

first off, housebreaking a pug is different fromother dogs they dont respond to rubbing their noses in it or yelling no about it, you have to be gentle and very patient with them, trust me ,im still trying to house break mine and i have had him a few months now, but they are overall wonderful pets
