We have a Brother fax/scan/copier/laser printer. We love it. I don't know what the "best" is, but this has been great. Very easy to use, even if you don't read the instructions. It uses only 1 black toner cartridge, no color. It's great, lots and lots of printing before the toner runs out. We have the MCF 18440 model, we liked it so much we brought it home and bought another one for the office, (it's a newer model now.) If you don't need color printing this is a good one.

Dear Da Da Da: I'm in love with my brand new Konica Minolta printer. A great price and small size and works so beautifully.

The model I selected was an award-winning printer. They have so many products. Perhaps they have the fax/scan/laser model you need. Look to see if there is an award-winner sticker on it. They advertise their awards proudly!

I want to make a suggestion to you that if possible you might look toward getting a separate fax, scanner and printer by one manufacturer. I have found throughout life that the less complex equipment is, the more dependable it is. Having one singular function will always be more dependable than multi-functional electronics. The complexity of the system as you put it through its paces - from one function to the other - is usually less dependable. This is an observation I have made over many long years. You ARE speaking of a multi-functional unit, are you not?

Best regards, Lana
