That is what Jehovah's Witnesses refer to as the United Nations, citing over 4,000 negative references within their publications. Why do they conceal the real "truth" by stating their involvement was strictly for the use of a library card? Ex: If you spent your life condemning smoking, would you work for a tobacco company?

Actually, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the United Nations organization is represented as a "wild beast" which eventually comes to "hate the harlot" of false religion. It is 'false religion' which Revelation calls a "great harlot" and a 'great city over the kings' and "Babylon the Great" and "a dwelling place of demons".

(Revelation 17:16-18) the wild beast, these will hate the harlot... the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth

(Revelation 18:2) She has fallen! Babylon the Great has fallen, and she has become a dwelling place of demons and a lurking place of every unclean exhalation and a lurking place of every unclean and hated bird!

The fact is that Watchtower's "involvement" really was limited to their use of the UN's libraries, which are used by tens of thousands of scholars, educators, students, and writers in New York City.

Years ago, a volunteer from the Watchtower Society filled out a one-side-of-one-page document requesting approval for him and his colleagues to use the libraries at the United Nations (which are only 5 miles from WT offices) .

By most accounts, at the time no signature was even required on that form. Each accepted applicant was designated by the UN and became listed as an 'NGO' (a "non-government organization"). The term is not specific to the UN and everywhere else on the planet the term "non-government organization" simply implies that the entity is:
1. Not a government entity; and
2. An organization (rather than a person)

Sooner or later, the annual renewal began requiring a signature, which a WT representative submitted each year thereafter. According to the form itself, the signature simply verified that this was a bonafide request.

At some truly arbitrary point, some United Nations bureaucrat decided that the term "non-government organization" (which had been and still is used millions of times each day by thousands of agencies of all types around the globe) was a special term! This bureaucrat decided that the term "non-government organization" meant that the organization endorses the UN!

Existing UN NGO's were not asked to enumerate this supposed endorsement. This incredibly presumptuous change was not even formally communicated to renewal applicants, and there was nothing on the renewal form which could possibly be interpreted as authorizing this remarkable conceit.

Weeks or months after the renewal request was submitted and accepted, the UN bureaucracy finally sneaked this ridiculous after-the-fact assumption into two sentences of fineprint at the end of a boilerplate booklet sent to non-government organizations. The UN website contains a carefully-worded statement that dishonestly implies that the UN bureaucracy's remarkable changes in definition of "NGO" preceeded WT involvement, but you'll see that they stop short of making such a clear (and libelous) statement; there is 'no love lost' on the part of the UN bureaucrats for JW's.

For decades, Jehovah's Witnesses had discussed the United Nations as a human counterfeit of God's global Messianic Kingdom government. Suddenly, enemies of Jehovah's Witnesses pretended that Jehovah's Witnesses must actually be in some kind of secret alliance with the UN (apparently along with the thousands of other library patrons). Jehovah's Witnesses acted quickly to distance themselves from the idea that they endorsed ANYTHING associated with the United Nations. They "tore up" their library card, as it were, and formally renounced the idea that Jehovah's Witnesses had ever endorsed the UN.

The matter is unconfusing and straightforward to any fairminded person. The remarkable conspiracy theories of anti-Witness critics fail to explain any possible benefit to Jehovah's Witnesses from "the secret alliance" (which also involved the thousands of other library patrons).

Before, during, and since the supposed "alliance", Jehovah's Witnesses continued to publicly denounce the ungodly nature of the UN. Before, during, and since the supposed "alliance", Jehovah's Witnesses continued to be widely persecuted in dozens of countries. Before, during, and since the supposed "alliance", the UN continued to be consistently unsympathetic to religious persecution.

The conspiracy theorists and anti-Witnesses are illogical and wrong regarding their accusations that Jehovah's Witnesses' status as a "non-government organization" supposedly indicated some endorsement of the United Nations.

It's easy to say that Hitler was a psychopathic killer, but it remains a great question of how much Hitler was actually responsible for. It is well known that Hitler didn;t like puting anything into writing and preferred verbal ocntracts, and therefore there is no actual evidence of a fuhrer order. Himmler, head of the SS had power over many aspects of the holocaust, along with heydrch, Goering and Goebbels amongst others, with Hitler taking forever to make decisions, it is thought that many of decisions were decided by these other leading Nazi's. Also, Hitlers actually achieved some great things, he managed to turn an econimically backward country into a leading power, and managed to build up the Nazi party into a popular and sucessful government. I am in no way, supporting what Hitler, or the Nazi party did with regards to the Holocaust, but just pointing out that he also achieved some great things, which are often overlookd because of the attrocities of the Holocaust.

You are incorrect. The United Nations, along with all political powers is represented by the beast in Revelations. False religion, of which Christendom is a major part is represented by the mother of all harlots, Babylon the Great. Soon, both will be put out of existance and only one true faith will remain on the earth and there will be one righteous heavenly government ruling over us. We can use any government facility as long as they do not ask us to go against God's laws. For the short time that the governments are allowed to rule, we must also "pay back Caesars things to Caesar."

I love it when experts on Jehovah's Witnesses misquote us.

The Great Harlot is the World Empire of False Religion.

I did a search for the UN / United Nations in our library, and I found that the most common reference to the the UN was in a photo, showing how man has failed to solve this world's problems.

Actually, JW's do not refer to the UN as the harlot - they believe it to be the scarlet-colored image of the wild beast.

They refer to the harlot as the world empire of false religion which "fell" in 1919. According to Revelation, total destruction comes swiftly after Babylon's fall in "one hour" symbolically. One would logically suppose that a symbolic hour would represent a short period of time in the lifetime of a person - yet Babylon the Great - about 87 years later - is still going strong. Hmmm......

Achtung, have you not read the Society's letter of explanation? You are telling a different story than they are.

I found the "library card" argument amusing as well.

This is an organization which once condemned vaccination- I have heard people say that up to 50% of the people over the age of 50 in this country crippled in their youth by polio were JW's or ex-JW's. The Watchtower organization quietly dropped their ban on vaccinations, yet people were permanently crippled by an organization which claims they have a monopoly on biblical truth. Wonder if 20 or 30 years from now, they will quietly drop the ban on blood transfusions after many, many people needlessly died.

JW's are welcome to believe what they want, but the Great Harlot has to be a religion, since the Church is the Bride of Christ, and Israel was 'divorced' from God. I suspect the Great Harlot is in fact Islam. But time will tell.

her name is most likly chaooah, who is decieved by the more subtle than any other beast HaShem G-D mades again. and the united nations is nothing more than a not so subtle puppet, following the orders of the more subtle than any other beast through chaooah. since HaShem G-D gave to her the power to set world policy. and thus being decieved by mr lizard lips, is transmitting corrupt policies to this world. the un are not the ones who are setting world policy. they are way too not so subtle in their too obvious, being manipulated endevour. and by the way, her name is chaooah and not eve according to the actual Torah Scroll. which is why i do not trust in any worldly religious translations of man.
