Hi!

What the bible means is that we Christians are personally not to judge that criminal's character as good or bad... for we have no right to judge someone who commits a crime (a sin) because we ourselves are full of sin... if we were to judge someone and find them lacking because they are sinful, then we would be hypocrites. Hence, judgement falls to the Lord, who is perfect and without sin.

Jesus showed this with the story of the prostitute/adultress. When the men gathered around her and asked Jesus what they should do (stone her to death or let her go free), Jesus gave them this answer...

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..." (Bible- John 8:7)

How can I point out your faults when I have my own? And the bible talks about this too...

Matthew 7:2-4 (Bible- NIV)
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?

However, the bible does say to obey the laws of the government.

Romans 13:1-2 (Bible- NIV)
Submission to the Authorities...
1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

So if someone commits a crime, I will call the cops... because it is the law. However, I will not judge that person for what he/she did.

And if the crime was commited against me (robbery for example), then I will forgive that person and not hold it against him/her, because the Bible preaches compassion and forgivness.

Matthew 6:14-15 (Bible- NIV)
14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Best Wishes...
T.

I think there is a BIG difference between leaving "judgement to God" and protecting your right to live free from harm as a human being. God wants us to protect ourselves, and our World. He is not here to do it all for us. We have free will to choose how we wish to respond to things. If someone is harming another, a Christian will not say, "hmmm..stinks to be them...oh well...God will deal with it...I am going shopping"....
I think it's more to do with the peersonality, not the spiritaulity of the person. Just because you are a Christian just not mean you are perfect, or above the rest of the world. That could not be farther from the truth. The only big difference between true Christians and non Christians is this.....
We have Faith in our beliefs, we have Hope for our future and love for one another.

As A christian I think you have a christian duty to turn people in to the police or correct law enforcement agency when ever the need arises. I used to work in a daycare and we were bound by law to call and report child abuse. I had to do that one time and I never regreted it. I think there is punishment to be meted out and then there is God's eternal justice that will be exacted upon our judgement.

That's a loaded question.

Leaving judgement to God doesn't mean they should not have to pay for their crimes in this world. The bible also teaches personal responsibilty which means paying for ones sins. Even in the theocratic Old Testament, there was punishment by civil authorities for crimes.

When I was not quite a teenager, I witnessed a Mob murder out in the woods near my house. Being very woods wise they did not even know that I was there watching them, when it was safe for me to get a way, I did so, and told, not asked, but told my mother (not a good thing to do as that kind of thing would generally get me my but handed to me) to call the FBI. She did and they came out to the house, I told them every thing that I saw happen in great detail, my mother was afraid to let me testify. Well, that is my story in a very small nut shell. I, as well as my entire family, have always been Christian.

Please be realistic.....
I don't think there is a religion out there that prevents someone from calling the police if they get robbed or witness a crime....
are you a pedophile, robber or thief that wants to stay free or something?

I think you are confusing between people and acts.

Acts like robbing, harming, etc... should be reported accordingly because they are breaking man's laws.

As Christians, judging people is not for us to do.

Kind of like when a child screws up... we don't "hate" the child; but the actions. People don't change; only their actions do.

You call your local police department silly. The FBI wouldn't care if your wallet got stolen or if you saw your local 7-11 robbed.

lol, I wish atheists would make up their minds. I thought Christians were the only people who commit crimes. Now you are saying that Christians are mindless robots who turn an eye away from crimes now?

See, atheism scrambles the thinking process.
