I've always heard that Stanless steal and copper are the best to cook with. They don't have the conventional non-stick coating that normal cookware has. So this is a two part question. The biggest one being is the Stanless steal non-stick, do they perform like their coated counterparts. And Two does cooking with stanless steal/copper pots & pans really make a difference. Only serious answers please. I ask this questions b/c I've never used them and I'm thinking about asking for a quality/top of the line/ set for xmas. Thanks for your time.

Hi, I honestly think it depends on what you want to cook. I use both teflon coated and stainless cookware. I like the stainless better because it has 1/2 inch piece of copper billet between the stainless layers to help it heat evenly. It also doesn't give off dangerous gas emissions. It allows the food to cook evenly and it is also more durable than teflon coated cookware. I use the teflon coated cookware to cook certain foods i.e. grilled cheese sandwiches, fried chicken, and different dishes i cook depending on ingredients, because the build up of heat in the cookware is less than the stainless. I would strongly suggest you do some research on the cookware in a consumer reports magizine, because that is what we did before we decided to buy any cookware.

Now to your two questions.

1. No stainless is not non stick and in my opinion they are actually superior to non stick cookware.

2. Yes it really does make a difference in taste, food color, and cooktime.

But let me warn you about teflon coating because I found this out and I am very cautious with it now. First when teflon cookware is heated on hi it produces a colorless gass that is dangerous. Second it the coating is scratched it can start to flake and get into your food, and cause health problems from the teflon being in your system.

I want you to seriously consider doing research before you buy it can help you alot in the long run. That is what we did and despite the fact I have to clean a lil more on the stainless cookware I would still reccommend stainless cookware to anyone. below are some links about teflon and one for consumer reports.

Hope this helps and God Bless,

Chris

I just bought a set of cheap stainless steel pots, not only are they the easiest pots I have ever had to clean, but the cooking is second to none.
I have a Teflon fry pan & it works fine, depending what needs to be cooked, I would not use teflon pots, simply because stainless is superior.

Go for the stainless. I love mine. They are great to cook with and are not hard to clean. That non-stick stuff is bad for your health. Invest in All-Clad pieces. They will last forever.

I would go with the non-stick one's but, just because it says non-stick dosent mean that it won't stick. i learned this the hard way and messed up my mother in laws Best Cooking Skillet!
