Good question! I reckon you are dead right. I went out with a person who I wasn't really attracted to so there never was a honeymoon period but his persistence and friendship won me over in the end as I found out how great he was. His effort eventually made me fall in love with him. That was ten years ago.

I don't think it turns into "nothing" after 6 months. You still have a history, memories, and are hopefully still physically attracted to the person. You surely have more to work with than 2 complete strangers would. Plus, the feelings come back in phases - it's not like they're gone forever.

Communication is important, as is understanding how women and men differ in general. I highly suggest reading the book: Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus.

If you work hard at a successful marriage, you will find that you will form a bond with your wife that far surpasses anything you encountered while single.

I've been with my guy for 12 years and it's still going strong. But you are right, you have to put the other person first and not just think about how hot he is.
