Got any record, cassette or cd albums which include lyrics to sing along? Those have ballads in them. Love songs especially fit into the ballad category and are still called ballads in the music industry on occasion. Look at one you like and analyze it according to what you went over in class. I think you know what is appropriate for school.

i like Velvet Revolver because of the fact they have the terrific guitarist decrease and nonetheless the finished GNR crue different than of direction Axle. on the commencing up i became somewhat skeptical that Scott Wielder from STP could be a sturdy lead for them, yet after watching them preform stay two times they easily rock. My well-liked band in the previous they broke up became Smashing Pumpkins especially for an identical reason you like Pearl Jam

I agree with Erewon - Dylan is an excellent bet.
You could also try Dan Fogelberg and/or Emmy Lou Harris.
Have fun!
