Satanist doesn't mean the same thing to all Satanists... there are different kinds. There is the Anton LaVey (not certain of the spelling) who has his Satanic Bible. There are the sort that start worshiping the Devil out of a desire to mock or rebell against Christianity.

Wiccans see Satanists as Christians, just worshiping the other Christian God (or anti-god as it were). Satan is a creature of the Judeo-Christian Bible, and as such, has no part in Wicca.

To the Christian, a Satanist is one who rebells, following the god of the world. A servant of the anti-Christ. They are lost unless they come to Jesus and repent.

No, they don't mean the same thing at all.

No. For those who don't really know what Satanism is and about the different varieties, they're going to view Satanists as the Hollywood or Christian Stereotype. For those who may know a little about Satanism their view might be less sinister, but their definition of Satanist might still hold some misconceptions. For Satanists, they might view their particular path of Satanism as the only one and therefore dismiss other types of Satanists. But at least their definition will be correct to their particular Satanic belief system. For other Satanists, they might understand all the various paths within the term Satanist and have a broader definition. Regardless the type of Satanist, the Satanist's definition of himself is not going to be as sinister as the Chrisian's definition of what (s)he thinks a Satanist is.

Well, it really depends on if they know what they are talking about. A Satanist is NOT the same thing as a Luciferian. Luciferians worship the Satan-figure from the Judeo-Christian tradition. Satanists don't. http://web.satanism101.com/

i think to a satanist and to a wiccan and to a pagan the definition is very similar. but all of these faiths encourage people to seek knowlege and to be tolerant and accepting of other ptople and their beliefs.

to some christians this may remain true, but to most they are told what to think by the church and that is the end of discussion.

I can only answer to what I have been given as truth about Satanism. I am told it is not a particular praising of satan or offering of sacrifices up to him, but more a religion that focuses purely on self satisfaction and self gain. I could be wrong and it would not be the first time. It would not be the last either I wager.

well as I seem to recall, Satanism was so named to spite the Christians and has nothing to do with the devil at all.
