running into the back of my dad's truck pretty much broke me of that habit.
But I don't suggest that method. :)
What really worked for me was an adult riding with me and explaining, "dear, if you use one foot, you only have to worry about making one mistake at a time and not two. Now, we were in the middle of a hay field at the time (former farm girl here) so we proceded to a driving lesson. It took some getting used to, but it was easy since I didn't have to worry about traffic.
so, I would suggest that you take someone along with you, an experienced driver, and go somewhere that is safe (huge parking lot if you don't have a field) and practice till you get the hang of it. I found that it felt much more natural to use only one foot.

Yes they will fail you. Here's how my husband taught me to correctly drive a manual transmission he made me keep my left foot flat on the floor at all times. He took me out in the "Boonies" and had me drive if I double footed it he made me start all over you eventually get the hang of it.

Well the way I stopped my daughter is she would drive with 1 foot on the clutch and the other on the gas.
I would drive with her and when I saw he do that i would pinch her on her inner thy. After about a week she would driver with 1 foot

if you're driving a automatic and you're using two feet any state will fail you.
