I think you're scared because society as we know seems to be on the decline. We're slowly destroying ourselves with everything from war and conflict to the poisons we breathe, consume in our foods, in our hair, on our skin, etc. And I'm sorry to all the religious people out there, but I don't think God is going to save us. We have to do that ourselves. Ok, maybe that's why I'm scared.
