What do you mean "What would you do?" If I were you I would go all out! If your hair isn't dry, roll the window down, if you pick up the kids, then do it. I suggest that you bring make up or whatever you can do that isn't messy while waiting for you kids to get out of school and find you. Bring them home, give them food, tell them to do homework while you prepare for this special night. Good luck...

This is a no-no in Europe, though.
When I lived in Germany and worked in a military base during summer vacation as a baby- sitter, I always laughed in the inside whenever I saw American ladies walking around with curlers.

Never had children, but I will still go and run errands with rollers in my hair. I always have. I roll up my hair nightly anyway, special occassion or not.
