No, thats not true a Catholic can become prime minister. Would the leader of the liberal party be a Catholic if that were the case?
It is true that the monarch has to be head of the church of England

The UK calls him a terrorist. They also called Edmund Campion a terrorist. All he did was say mass.

If you read about Guy Fawkes, what historians have discovered about him, you may find that his case was bogus. Trumped up by those who wanted King James to continue persecution of Catholics.

King James had a Catholic mother and as such was more sympathetic than Elizabeth I. So the "gunpowder plot" was created by those close to him to make Catholics look bad.

It worked. The persecution continued AND as I said, it's still illegal for a catholic to be king or queen in england.
