Lowlights are undertones for your hair to create more of a contrast or the darkest parts of you hair. They're nice because you don't have to get the roots touched up as often and they help bring out your natural highlights.

Highlights are the brightest streaks in your hair. Some people get them naturally and some have them dyed for a more dramatic look.
