I think it's normal. If you had a cat and you just talked to it in a flat voice, he would not like it! Cats and Dogs actually like to be babied, they LOVE the attention!!~~~~

I am guilty of doing this, and sometimes my boyfriend calls me out on it. But they (my 5 cats) seem to perfer it and get really happy whan I talk like that. I am pregnant and I am kind of worried that I will talk to my newborn son that way hopefully not as much as I do with my cats though.

cats prefer higher pitches to men's lower pitch. That said, her voice is prob high enough without doing the mommy-ese thing.

Strangely, the answer is no. Just watch how people talk to newborn babies - it's identical. She just sees her cats as her own children. Probably only subconsciously, but that's the reason.

I don't know. I am a girl and I do that to both my cats and dogs. My husband and sons think I am strange. Maybe it's just a "girl" thing???
