They were both at the bottom of a painting of a bowl of pears...I thought it would be nice in my kitchen but i want to know what it means...

Botanically, malus is the genus of the apple, and I think pyrus is the pear. Domestica would probably mean domestic ie commonly cultivated. (Vulgaris means wild, uncultivated)

I'm pretty sure "malus domestica" translates to "domestic violence," because "malus" means "evil," or "bad," and domestica obviously means domestic.

Pyrus domestica means domestic fire
