Are there any online counselling services that work for a 50 minute (approximately) instant messanger type service that aren't too expensive. Preferably someone with some kind of psychology degree. Any psychologists one here?

Just for oneself.
I thought there might be an official website with counsellors on that provide an online service.

This is a peer support service, not a professional counsellor, and is geared for youth in crisis.

You seem to connect better to people thru technology? Texting and im ing! This to me would suggest you have a mistrust of personal contact? You sound as if you are in a very bad place Joy but the fact you are acknowledging you need help is the starting place to getting out of it. Instead of a psychologist or psychiatrist, you may find help from a person centred counsellor who can help you to become unstuck and to help you accept yourself, warts and all!

Self harming is very common it just sometimes controls us instead of helping us control other things. Go to your GP, they should be able to get you on the right road, or phone the samaritans, they are free? x

Just try the Yahoo Messanger Mental Health room. I've been there before and they definitely know what they're talking about. Some one in there will be able to help you for free.

No mate, therapy of this kind only works face to face as so much of it relies on the meaning and interpretation of non verbal communication. If anyone tells you they can do it, they are most likely fibbing and trying to rip you off!

Good and cheap are likely to be a contradiction.
