Is it at all possible that you might have strained the muscles under ribs and around your chest? I have done that before and couldn't get a full breath without being in alot of pain. I hope that is all that it is - that is minor, and recoverable. Very best of luck to you!!

Pain only with inhalation is almost never caused by anything serious. Pleurisy is inflammation of the lining of the lungs and it hurts like he11. It goes away on it's own and the only real complication is that it prevents you from breathing deeply, so you can't get up and do much. You could be having musculoskeletal pain, as well. An antiinflammatory medication might take a while to really work well.
Things like pneumonia, tumors, pulmonary embolism, etc. cause a different kind of chest pain. They decrease your oxygen supply and make your heart work harder and actually cause the type of chest pain you get with a heart attack. They make it hard to breathe in a different way. You can't breathe well, not because it hurts, but because the air just won't go in or the oxygen doesn't get absorbed. You get very short of breath with those things.
edit: PS while I'm sure blah blah blah meant well, going to the Dr. and demanding further studies might not be such a good idea. This is pain you've only had for one day. You would most likely be wasting your money and a heck of a lot of time. If I was in your position, I'd wait at least 3 days unless it was just excruciating or I was getting terribly short of breath. I'm saying all of this assuming the pain is only on inhalation. If you have the pain when you're not inhaling, as well, that's serious. If that's the case, then you do need to go in and have further studies done.

Seriously DEMAND that your doctor's do more than an x-ray if this continues.
My best freind kept going back to the doctors with pain in her lungs and they told her there was nothing wrong.
She died of lung cancer at 30.
Nobody noticed she had cancer until her lungs collapsed, and then it was too late.
I would suggest you go back to the doctor soon, tell them you are still in pain and that the shot did not help. Go to the emergency room if you have to, DO NOT let them tell you nothing is wrong. There is more than x-rays that can be done... get an MRI.
