The TV camera can make anything apparantly happen!
Cats can't open tins - not only because they don't have thumbs but because tins are not naturally occurring in the wild. After all, a non-domesticated cat has no problems catching its own food - food that is there through nature. And cats that live in the country are more than able to feed themselves. Mine catches rabbits despite being fed three times a day!

That's two questions.
(A) Cats can't open cans because it's not in their nature. They can, however, feed themselves. My cats regularly open *bags* of cat food to eat, and of course for millions of years cats have been opening up fleshies things like rats and mice in order to eat their meat.
(B) The advertisement is make believe. It's probably done with CGI or puppets or other special effects.

They are independent, but don't have possible thumbs needed to work the can opener. Sounds like a cute commercial! My cats do tear open the new bag of dry food, even if their dish is full.

no. dog food does not contain the right nutrients that cats need, and it contains some that are actually quite bad for cats. it may be okay as a ONE OFF, but anymore could seriously damage your cat. btw. post this in the pets section next time! and do not try it vice versa either. very bad!

Opposable thumbs, or rather the lack thereof, keeps cats from opening their own canned food.
In the advertisement - they used computer graphics to make it look like he opened the can.... or wait...maybe the cat is MAGIC!! It isn't possible for cats to open cans, period.

Cats don't have opposable thumbs; thus, they cannot open cat food cans. They can do pretty much everything else, though. Cats are the best!

Well the reason for that is because first of all they don't have thums and theyre not as smart as we are if I could make a cat feed itself I would . They only show that so you will buy the sry food. Its all computer animated crap.

They don't have opposable thumbs. They can, however, catch their own food, e.g. mice, birds, rabbits. But because they're intelligent, they know they don't need to when there's a person there to open a tin for them. All common sense really
