I wouldn't recommend Carmine's for the kind of dinner you described -- the portions are HUGE it's best for group and is pretty boisterous. If you have the money check out the Gramercy Tavern -- a short cab ride from Times Square -- they have a really nice decor and willl do up the holiday stuff, the service is excellent -- but they probably get booked up for Christmas Eve pretty quickly.

Becco's. Call information for number it's around 45th and broadway. Have you ever watched Lidia's cooking on the food net worth. Well this restaurant is her son's. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is very relaxing and enjoyable. i always enjoy the fried calamari, antipasto, homemade pasta, and warm bread with special dipping oils. My mouth is watering just thinking about eating there again. I've eaten 3 times so far, and never was disappointed and either were my guest. Bon Appetite.

Not going to find it on Times Square. Go to the smaller restaurants in the 50s area and you will find very nice at a reasonable price

Joe's Pizzeria, I think it's on 37th, or 38th, but it's definitely between Broadway and ...whatever's east of Bwy. You could find the exact address easily online. It's not fancy shmancy but it's nice, it's not a divey pizza joint or anything.
