a church is there for people to get their questions answered...to have guidance...counceling...etc.....but your relationship with God depends on you...but i would like to say one more thing about church or n e holy place...a lot is going on in today's world...and even holy places are hard to trust...i say that we should read our holy texts and yea go to holy places for guidance but at the end God can be seen ...that is what our scriptures say...so why not search for the answer.. where can he be seen and how by whom?? god is within he is light he can be seen by a perfect master ......so you can build on your relationship with God once you meet God ....other wise who knows if there is God or not....but i can say that i have seen God and i have my own connection with him...and i pray that you connect with him too!

No one can teach you to know God personallyu only you can some can direct you in the direction but only you can develope the relationship on a individual process because God works on different things with different people.

No, this is the responsibility of the believer. Church is there for support, to teach and to lead you in the wisdom of God, but only you can foster the relationship with Christ.

know HIM on a personal level. this way everyone can have a personal relationship with GOD no matter what others in the congregation are doing or if they would leave the Church for some reason or other. if one would leave the Church it would be easier if they knew their belief in GOD would still be with them.

I think a church should prepare you to take your own personal walk with God.

Both. And if you genuinely devote your mind to the service and teachings, you will develop your personal relationship with God based on your understanding of his word. Different people have different perceptions of Gods word...the more you study, the more you understand, and the closer your relationship will be!! And...
God bless you!!
