Don't know about this story on the link. The dates don't match up. The date of the Dallas Morning News main heading says "Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006". The date on the article at the top left says "03/09/06". Hmmm.. A little suspect to me that warrants some internet digging. I do not see that the agents that were mentioned in the article, if it is true, broke any laws. The may have violated some of the regulations of the Border Patrol for not having a proper report submitted, but, this is not a crime nor is it a public record. Keep looking..

Heard a bit more about it today. It is true, but, the sentencing is not complete as I write this. The clips that I have read basically say that the ILLEGAL alien immigrant drug smuggler was not able to attend the trial and they used his testimony against the officers. Yes, the officers did violate some of the rules, not laws, of the Border Patrol which would involve some days of suspension without pay. Anyone who does not stop when an officer tells you to and makes a threatening gesture after beating another officer down, does deserve to be shot. And not just wounded. They are dangerous. In my opinion the judge and the prosecutor both should be disbarred for even hearing a case like this. And this is not racist or non-compassionant, the guy was illegal, has no rights in this country, and was runnng drugs. He is lucky he just got shot in the ****. And that is his word against the officer. He was not sure he hit him and he says that the guy kept running like there was nothing wrong with him and went across the border and got in another waiting van. Bad call judge.

The conviction and sentence will be over turned,3 of the jury have admitted to jury tampering .So they wont be in prison, give the system time to work. They will be free and with all back pay reinstated. This whole thing was engineered by the cartel that run El Paso.
They were arresting a known drug dealer with 700lbs of weed. They were just doing their jobs is right.

So what did they do? If they broke the law, then yes, they should go to jail.

If link below is what you're referring to-- I'd agree they should be punished somehow for not reporting the incident. But the story doesn't say they've been sentenced.

The federal district attorney claims that the two border guards were guilty because the illegal alien with the 700lbs of illegal drug once he was in the USA, in our side of the border he got discovered by our guards, the guard try to stop them, the illegal fought the guards and then try to escape back to Mexico. The guards went after them on foot, running after them still in the USA, one of the guard thought that the illegal had a gun and shot the illegal drug smuggler in order to defend them self and arrest this person. For this they are guilty because they were supposed to let him escape back to Mexico. What do you think of this.?

I think the people who wrote the law, as well as those who insisted on the prosecution, should be in there instead.
What a travesty.
They should get a medal for going after illegals & drug dealers.

Its apalling to say the least. Our system is ruining the lives of two upstanding citizens doing the job they were hired to do, all for the benefit of a GUILTY, LAWBREAKING illegal. Especially when he cant even show up in court. yeah, real respectful.

Anyone who supports this sh!t is a TRAITOR.... the same crap is being done to our soldiers.... Congress is corrupt...

MEXICO is a CESSPOOL..... and, apparently, so are our government and our courts, or at the very least, they are wiping Mexico's AZZ..... we need armed troops on our borders with orders to "shoot to kill" to stop this illegal alien invasion........ and enact a law that provides those who hire illegal aliens, a no parole 5 year prison term along with a $250,000 fine....

NO! I am appalled - although, I wonder if this wasn't sort of like catching Capone for tax evasion...border patrol isn't exactly corruption rare.
