Do you read the Bible and have quiet times?
Do you attend teachings regularly?
What happens is as you get to know God better, you start understanding Him and get ot know His voice. It's hard to describe. Sometimes it's in scripture, it's other people, it's hard to explain. Continue to seek Him, sometimes I don't even know He's talking to me, until I step out in faith....
Continue to get to know Him and ask a mentor or a wise Christian that knows you.

Dear Rae,

You will not hear the Lord through an audible voice, or a vision, or dream, or through a visitation of an angel. The Lord has clearly instructs us in Revelation 22:18, 19 that if any person adds to the word of God, that individual is under the judgment of God. You may ask "Why?" Well, when the last word of the Bible was penned, the Lord had given to man His entire lawbook. The lawvbook (Bible) was to be studied using the rules that God had given in: Mark 4:33, 34; 1 Corinthians 2:13; and Isaiah 28. The Bible is a spiritual book and every word is from the mouth of God. Even when we read in the Gospel of John or Genesis or Psalms--this is ALL the word of God. You need to understand that God used these men as secretaries to write down the words, but they are not the author. Please see Jeremiah 1:1-5 for further detail.
Now, IF God were still adding to His Bible, then how could we know that the commandments He had given earlier were still to be followed? We could not know because people would be saying, "God told me this, or an angel told me this, or I had a vision about this.... God is not the author of confusion. But if satan can confuse people, and he is the father of lies, people would not know what is truth and what is not. And that is what satan and his workers are doing today--deceiving people by the false teachers and prophets who are "adding to the word of God."
If you desire to know the truth, read the Bible slowly and carefully. Pray that the Lord (Jesus) would give you some understanding and obedience to His word. We must always approach the Lord humbly, because He is Almighty God. We never demand anything from the Lord, but should say, "Lord, not my will but thine be done." There is a call-in radio program (toll-free) where you can ask questions from the Bible over the air and the moderator will attempt to answer your question from the Scriptures. I cannot give you the radio station or phone number but perhaps you could Google my references. I hope this will help you.

There are things out there that would mislead you. Even if you hear a voice - and you think it's God, you must question.

You may never actually hear the voice of God. Some have the gift of wisdom. Some have the gift of knowledge. Either of those is when the information just comes right to your heart. And your recognize the truth of it.

Prayer and fasting is recommended in the bible.

You absolutely CAN hear the voice of God. The best advice I have is to just listen whole-heartedly and truly believe that you are worthy and able. Check out the book series by Neale Donald Walsch, "Conversations With God." It is an amazing introduction to this topic. Most libraries have a copy.

The Psalmist gave the most useful tip: Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). From there we are placed in a position where we are focused on God and are able to hear that still small voice the resonates in our hearts with truth.

Usually you hear or feel a inner voice, pray, be patient, and continue in prayers, listen, God does communicate in so many ways, be open and concentrate on his face, what you believe he looks like, be sincere and or compassionate in your prayers, find a place to where you are alone with God.

Read the Gospel according to John. This is a wonderful source to know who God is in the person of Jesus Christ. God comes to us. We might not know it, or understand it. God meets us human to human in Jesus Christ. The best we can do is love one another as he loved us. Live in the forgiveness of sin. We always need the grace of God. Read the Psalms also. Find a quiet place and let God speak to you through the word.

The Powers That Be were discussing where to hide the divine treasure. One of them suggested to bury it deep in the ground, but there was concern that it would be found eventually because of man's naturally inquisitive nature. Another mentioned the possibility of dumping it deep into the sea so it may fall into the depths of the ocean. However, this too was met with concern, as man would eventually advance enough to find it. Finally, the wisest of the Powers came up with the best solution: it is to be buried inside man, for none will think to look for it there, and so it was done.

The Lord speaks through your Heart. Have you ever been in a store and thought "no one is watching, so I can slip this in my purse" or on the verge of doing something wrong, and you feel this strange sensation come over you, kind of like butterfly's in your stomach. That is the Lord telling you not to do it.
