wire, or a twist tie or two tied together, stripped of plastic
Dental floss would probably work, if it's not that plastic-y stuff, but more like cotton.
How about using the chicken's skin? Tuck the wing tips back and underneath (like the chicken is reclining w/ it's hands behind it's head). For the legs, bring up the skin from underneath, and catch the ends of the chiken legs under the skin. This is how most rotisserie chickens are done.

I use kite string for a number of things,I am Italian and we make(cant spell It)a flat piece of meat with parsley, fresh garlic some grated cheese etc, then we roll It and tie it and put It raw In our tomatoe sauce and let It cook and when It Is done we cut the string and cut It against the roll so it looks good and taste good,we use kite string for many other dishes too

If your yarn is 100% wool or cotton that would be fine but most of the yarns now are synthetic and they may melt in the oven. Is it possible to bake the two halves apart then apply frosting to the halves and put them together after baking? Your other option, if you have clamps like ones that are used in woodworking they may be strong enough to hold the pans together if there is enough of a lip on the edge of the pans.

bake two cake halfs the way yourself always do when the cake is a bit colder than put some not too much mermalade between the halfs on the brown baked upside when you have a good sharp knife you can remove the upper crunchy side on the top some mermelade or seomehing else and put the other side on top

You can tuck the wings under the tail flap - and that way you don't need anything - if using dental floss, make sure it isn't waxed.....regular string will work as well.

mrfrijo, I'm making the same thing tomorrow. I'm so glad you said you cooked it in the tomato sauce. This is the first time I'm making it in a long while. My mom made it all the time. I was trying to think how she cooked it.
