old men "interpreted" the bible? Maybe then they would've been to busy to make up fairy tales and we wouldn't have to deal with people repeating the rubbish as fact today. Drat. Where were the scientists? Surely not ALL of them were executed for heretics when Christianity was in it's cult stage. I know the Christians burned down the Great Library of Alexandria but didn't somebody think to save a copy to disc? Geez.

Oh goody a thumbs down before I even get an answer. You can check my facts about the Great Library of Alexandria. Start with a book called "Cosmos" by Dr. Carl Sagan.

Paladin, thank you for the facts, quite interesting. And I also agree that if I wanted less hostile answers I would've phrased the question differently, however, I asked in the manner I did to rid myself of some frustration. I have been fending off Christians and the policies they have instilled in simple everyday life all day, and I am tired, and I am frustrated. And so far as I know this is the only forum I can release my frustration without "hurting" anyone. Probably after I think about it rationally I will remove the question. Thanks for the facts. Peace.

I deeply admire Dr. Sagan and love "Cosmos," but when and by whom the Library at Alexandria was destroyed is a matter of debate among historians. Ancient and modern sources identify four possible occasions for the destruction of the Library:

1. Caesar's conquest in 48 BCE
2. the attack of Aurelian in the 3rd century CE
3. the decree of Theophilius in 391 CE, and
4. the Muslim conquest in 642 CE or thereafter.

You might get more responses by asking a less hostile and loaded question.

Screw disc, DVD if they would have had that back in the day. I guess parchment and rock wouldn't do for the massive amounts of research they've collected. Even if it did, it wouldn't last for long. Elements.

Yes it does seem like all of those guys were either sexually frustrated or hated women or maybe they were just trippin on some good drugs.
