How about if Holland is better than Princess line?

Both are fun but Holland America is the high end cruise where Carnival is more like low end. Low end does not mean it's bad. Just the service may not be up to the pampering of Holland America.

Holland America is a wonderful cruise line. We took a cruise to Scandanavia and Russia in August. We had wonderful service and food. The cabin was large and even had a full sized bath tub. Everything was clean and new looking. I highly recommend this line. We have never cruised on Carnival but have used Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. Holland America was much better than Norwegian and Celebrity and about the same as Royal Caribbean which was also excellent.

We all have our favorites, which makes it a little tough to be objective, but I've been on all three and would rank them with Carnival at the bottom then about a tie for Holland and Princess.

I do about 2 - 3 cruises a year (going on one tomorrow) and have had less than favorable experiences on both Holland and Princess, both centering around their food.

If you haven't booked anything yet, do yourself a favor and look at Celebrity Cruise Lines (my personal favorite). Seven of their ships were voted in the top 10 cruise ships in the world according to Conde Nast Traveler - which is almost a travel bible.

A cruise is a wonderful vacation and planning it is a lot of the fun.

Enjoy and bon voyage.

I would place Carnival toward the lower end of the lines. I've cruised on most major lines and found that it is cheaper and more family oriented, especially catering to younger children. Holland America is more stately and certainly a notch above, and on par with RCL and Princess. The ships may not be as new, but they are nicely appointed and offer good service. Pay the extra few dollars.

You will enjoy Holland America Line much more than Carnival. Princess is above carnival too. Holland is more 40+ for age groups or families like grandchilden, parents and grandparent travel. Princess is more 30+

They're complete opposite ends of the spectrum. The service on Holland is fabulous. Every staff member on the ship was calling me by name by day two. However, the client base is much older and there's no night life. Carnival is more of a party line. The clients are usually twenty somethings who want to party. Princess is known for outstanding service and is more upscale. It depends on your age and interests. Last year, we had friends on a Princess ship doing the same itinerary we were doing on Royal Caribbean (the same week). We had much more fun! We're a bunch of 30's and 40's who like a lot of options and great service. We've taken to doing Royal Caribbean every year.

It is a nice cruise line but not my favorite. I was bummed they did not have live bands playing out on the Lido deck. It only had music 60 and older like. The ship was nice and the food great but I like a little more action.
