I heard a pastor on a radio station today preaching a sermon about who can enter in the kingdom of heaven (specifically im not getting into details) im just wondering if there is something fishy about this verse just because it has the three number 6's together and also the verse says: As a result of this many of his disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore. do you guys think this was coincidence that these three numbers ended up together and who wrote the bible in verses and why?

John 6:60-71

Many Disciples Desert Jesus

60 Many of his disciples said, “This is very hard to understand. How can anyone accept it?”

61 Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to heaven again? 63 The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But some of you do not believe me.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn’t believe, and he knew who would betray him.) 65 Then he said, “That is why I said that people can’t come to me unless the Father gives them to me.”

66 At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. 67 Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”

68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.[j]”

70 Then Jesus said, “I chose the twelve of you, but one is a devil.” 71 He was speaking of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who would later betray him.

John is the author. I don't think the numbers are important; instead I think the entire passage is important.

We as believers pay a price to believe the Holy Bible and follow Jesus. Question is: Who is willing to pay the price and reap the benefits of eternity?

I believe the Holy Bible. I love Jesus...and I can't wait to see Him in Heaven! ((Although, I am so glad that He will walk with me through the valley's here on earth!))

First of all, when the text was originally written in did not have the verses like that, that was put later for reference, so no, it is not significant. If the chapter is going to have more than 65 verses, one had to be 66. So yes, coincidence. It is in verses so you can say John chapter 3 verse 11 and people know EXACTLY what you mean, instead of, oh, somewhere in the middle of john.

I'm not sure why anyone would be upset with 666. Even if I was superstitious, I'd know that the "devils number" was reduced to 616.
