Think a small typo. You were referring to Iraq? I was around when the Nam. draft was happening. My dad was in WWII. I think they should start the draft back up and let everyone serve their 2 years whether we need more soldiers or not. That way you get a cross section of the whole country and also everyone could contribute to the freedoms you and I are enjoying today. Anyone not reporting for the draft should be jailed or forced to leave the country and not let back in, and not pardone like those that left during the Vietnam war. Discipline the military gives young people is the best thing that could happen to them. There is nothing more terrifying than a big old drill sargent screaming in your face(except my wife) Hey!! why not start a program like "The Dirty Dozen" and empty our prisons out and let them repay society by fighting evil.

A draft is always a possibility. I think you mean Iraq don't you. If they do then maybe some of the yellow belly americans that claim I'm so patriotic but wouldn't serve in the military will get drafted. I just hope they don't expect me to vote for a draft dodger in the future.

If they don't, they should restart the draft. That would secure enough personel to fight in different areas. After all the National Guard and Reservest can't do it all. That is what we have now. I just wonder where all the regular troops are at.
That is a small number compared to other wars we have fought in. Some had hundreds die in one day.
They difinitely should restart the draft.

Well, if they do bring the draft back... I will be ready to defend our great nation - The United States Of America. It would be an honor serving under the President and being a defender of Freedom. God's lucky he found such brave-defenders. God Bless This Great Nation and The People Who Serve.

My guess is no. If they didn't implement the draft during the Afghanistan hunt for Bin Laden and the Iraq wild Hussein chase, they won't do it because of a *possibility* of war. Just my opinion.

i believe that within our lifetime, we will see another draft...i am 27 years old so i wasnt around for the Vietnam draft..i am scared to death though...i am a prior enlisted Navy member and my husband is prior navy and current active coast guard...
i cant imagine the fear and what people felt during the vietnam draft..my grandmother had 4 boys, all of them actually volunteered for the military but just imagine having your sons being taken from you..
i support the US in every which way, so i guess that i have to support the draft..but deep down in my heart, i wish that it didnt exist and wasnt going to possibly happen

That's Iraq, not Iran, and no, Congress won't start the draft on possibilites. Although we may need it sometime, so long as people are volunteering we don't need it now.

Unless we get into something the magnitude of World War II again, I don't see any way this would ever happen again. Any politician supporting this idea would be committing political suicide.
