Advantage is perfectly safe - wont kill the animals. Since you are putting more than likely a smaller dose on a larger animal, it shouldn't be a problem at all... but you can always give your dog a bath and use alittle bit of Dawn dish soap to get it off., Advantage is not waterproof like Frontline is.
If you put higher doses than recommended of the stuff you get at grocery stores, which is NOT safe and is a pesticide then I would be worried, but not with Advantage. I recommend calling your vet in the morning and just verifying what I'm saying though just so you feel better. :-)

It is true that using some flea meds intended for one animal on another can be dangerous & usually lethal. However, there are exceptions to every rule. The chemical used in the original Advantage (ONLY THE PLAIN ADVANTAGE) can be used for dogs & cats. You MUST get the dosage correct! To much can kill your cat & to little will do nothing. You go by the dosage for your dogs & cats weights. You can look it up on the product info on sites like 1800petmeds.com I buy the Advantage for over 100 lbs for dogs & use a syringe to measure the correct amounts for each cat & dog. If you are uncomfortable or unsure of how to do any of this, DON'T DO IT! As always, better safe than sorry but I have been doing this for years & it cuts down on costs. If you are blessed enough to not have a worry about money then I would continue the way you've been doing it.

Its best avoided as cat fleas are bigger than dog fleas so the treatment will be totally different to dog fleas and may have a bad effect on the dogs skin or something. You should just use Frontline or go to your vet.

yes as a flea is a flea and they can eat each others food too. Don't let all the fancy labels fool you. The flea meds and food is about the same... just different labels to satisfy humans and don't even get me started on the 1000 different flavors..........it is all the same **** just named gourmet chicken beef and such to stimulate you when you are buying it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
It can kill the dog, and vice versa if you use dog flea treatment on a cat.
Ask your vet........the vet where I take my dog had a dog in there that the cat treatment was used on and they didnt' think it would make it.
