A small hiatal hernia is when the stomach (normally completely below the diaphragm) pushes up through the hole in the diaphragm (where the esophagus comes down from the mouth and to the stomach). It can lead to or exacerbate indigestion and reflux of acid up into the esophagus..causing that burning pain when you lay down, etc.

A "lesion" is just a term meaning "abnormality"...it isn't really specific for anything in particular. It just means that in the study performed (like a CT scan or MRI), the kidney is not a normal uniform color...there is a "spot" in in. It does not mean anything more than this.

It could be absolutely nothing and be completely harmless, or could be evidence of a small kidney stone, or (at worst) it could be evidence that a cancer in another part of the body has metastasized to the kidney.

You would have to talk with a doctor further about this.

Hope this helps some....
