For someone who was raised with no religion, how do you make the leap to faith? It would be nice to believe in god, but I would only be lying to myself. I am sure if god existed, that would not be good enough.

Okay Tamil. How do you have faith in god, when you were raised to have faith in only the sciences. I suspect that you were raised from childhood to believe in the existence of god. It isn't easy to believe otherwise.

I used to be agnostic, but now believe in God. The key thing for me was that I decided I agreed with all the basic principals Jesus outlined, other things I didn't agree with could be attributed to the author's biases, for instance. I figure if everyone practiced these core beliefs, or at least attempted to, than the world would be a much better place. This alone allowed me to overcome other problems I had with religion; if God wants people to be like this, than he must be good. And that's what belief comes down to, good vs. evil. I had problems with many of our nation's leaders who practice a bastardized form of Christianity while raping the world of resources, and depriving people of basic human rights; I just can't accept the fact that they'd get away with it without repercussions (which I don't believe consists of eternal Hellfire, by the way). To make a ridiculous metaphor, how depressing would the end of Return of the Jedi have been if Darth Vader had watched Luke Skywalker die? Also, in the Bible it says "God is love," and also that "love is eternal," so I believe all those atheists who are saying that it's okay to just lead a good life without belief in God are 100% correct, and I think you'll reap the rewards of a good life regardless.

Let me ask you some questions before answering yours. Have you ever reliazed that you are living on a globe (The earth) that can spin by itself without and poles or string attached ? The sea
water on the surface of this globe never fell off and whatever needed by us is governed within this earth especially the layer of atmosphere seems to be created just for us. Don't you feel that
there is a divine power creating all these just for the benefits of mankind. Seeing is believing, but how is it that you believe air exist but you don't see it. In order to gain faith in religion, first of all you must recognize yourself, find out the source where you
came from? Do you deny that we are all made up of "Air, Water,
Fire(in the form of blood) and Earth(in the form flesh) without the soul attached , our body is useless or death. You must have dreamed before , it is the time that you soul leave your body
and was wandering around . It was your soul that make you dream. Have you ever wander about the formation of an infant
just by a drop of sperm after a certain months that a piece of bone can be wraped up by a piece of flesh. Do all the mothers in the world have the power to do that inside their wombs. Why everybody must die? Once you have figured out all this, you shall accept the truth, find out yourself more on religion about God and you wouldn't regret that how merciful and loving God is. Purify your heart, only then you can find the God.

Can you believe in Love? Can you Love? Can you depend on someone else to be there for you? If you can do those thing maybe all you need in some reasons to have faith. God didn't leave us here alone with no help in gaining faith. I have reasons I expect reasons that have never been challenged not even on answers. You don't seem to want proof like so many others on here. I can tell you right now faith wouldn't be faith if it had proof it would be knowledge. If I can help email me... Jim

nicely my faith in case you are able to call it that via fact it extremely is not a faith is agnosticism i'm agnostic besides i grew to become into the two a catholic and protestant christian and that i left it via fact i could no longer take all the lack of information and each thing that went with it and that i've got continually been variety of a skeptic whilst it is composed of god yet i'm nevertheless looking into diverse religions so some distance i like buddhism and taoism and a few others despite the fact that if i do no longer completely reject the belief of a greater advantageous power i merely am no longer confident that it extremely is of a undeniable faith or if this bigger power even cares approximately faith plus in a fashion technology has variety of debunked the belief of a greater advantageous power yet there is till issues that don't upload up

Invite you to contact any Seventh Day Adventist Pastor in your neighbourhood if you are serious to know the answer to your question... but if you mean it as a joke at religion ,or God, then this is not a surprise because God had prophecied in hie word that in the LAST DAYS ,THERE WILL BE MOCKERS... and these would very soon reap their reward and that is eternal contamnation... the bible says that every knees shall bow on that day to acknowledge Christ ,the King of Kings ... May God Help you and you to decide for him ,lest you perish Brother ,INVITATION is there for you .. take it or leave it.. May God Bless you

You can't have faith in religion. You can only have faith in God.
Religion is just works / ceremonies done that you think are right. Faith is trusting & obeying God. Without faith it is impossible to please God. For those that come to Him must believe that He Is and is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him.
For God so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him (Faith) will not perish but will have ever lasting life.

Did you just say that even if you were sure God existed, it wouldn't be good enough and you would be lying to yourself? I think it sounds like that's what you are doing now.

What makes you think being faithful to God is any different than being faithful to a spouse or a nation?

you don't have to have faith in religion to have faith in God. you don't have to be a member of any particular 'religion' to believe in God. You either have it or you don't. You stated you don't.
