A cappuccino is 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 frothed milk.
A latte is more a milk drink with a thin layer of foam. Because it has a lower ratio of the espresso base, the predominant flavor is sweet milk. I believe latte's are traditionally served in larger (like 12) ounce cups instead of the 4.5-5.5 ounce cups for cappuccinos.

A cafe latte and a cappuccino are coffee beverages made from espresso and milk. The difference is that cafe late takes about a half an inch to an inch of foam/froth while the cappuccino takes a half cup of foam/froth. The key to making good foam is keeping the steam/heat wand 1/4 inch below the surface of the milk and as the milk rises the steam pitcher is pulled down. When the temperature of the milk gets to 120 degrees the steam wand can be submerged all the way into the pitcher. Steam the milk to approximately 160 degrees. There should be a lot of foam. The longer the foam sits the better the quality.

cappuccino is a serving of espresso (about 2 ounces) with essentially similar amounts of milk and a rather stiff milk foam. Caffè latte is a serving of espresso with about three times as much milk, topped with a short head of foam. So a latte is milder and has a milkier taste.

Cappaccino is suppose to be espresso with all foamed milk, and a latte is espresso with steamed milk making it heavier and creamier.
