Century 21 downtown is the BEST place to shop for clothes, shoes, bags and just about anything you could ask for! It is on Cortlandt Street (take the subway to the World Trade Center stop) and it is right across the street.

As for the time, not sure what date you are travelling on, but the clocks here get "turned back" one hour on October 29th. So, if you are travelling on that date, just factor that in. The good thing is that all airlines tend to make that announcement upon landing telling you what the local time is, so if you are confused that should help you!

Tax in Manhattan is 8.25% on just about everything!

For more ideas, you can check out a copy of New York magazine when you arrive (pick it up at any newstand). They have listings for not only art and theater events but store sales and special events too!

Enjoy your time in the "greatest city"!! I love it there!

first of all New York is great, you're going to have a fantastic time

warning though when shopping in Manhattan the price on the item does not inclue the 8.25% sales tax so if the tag says it cost $100 then it will cost you $108.25 at the register, this is the norm, they are not ripping you off but it can be a major shock when buying more expensive items !!

If you are after cheap designer gear then it might be worth looking into getting a bus out to New Jersey where there are a lot of outlet stores & less/no tax on the same items - don't know the details, maybe someone else can help .....

have a great trip !!!
