Why is the international community inteferring so much in the business of the middle east? It is clear from the continued level of violence that these people are not as socially evolved as us. They simply do not understand democracy, neither do they want it, so why are we wasting our time over there? Oil? Maybe... Why doesn't the international community pull out of the middle eastern countries and let the crazy extremists get on with it. It's not our country after all. I'm sure if they tried to instill their method of government and beleif upon us we too would rebel.

1 - The US is a commercial nation requiring a RELIABLE, STEADY supply of petroleum for its citizens and its commercial and governmental entities.

2 - Because that part of the world is still so important in the production of petroleum we have a vital strategic interest in the stability of that region.

Take it from there...

Next to air and food and water, oil is the most important commodity out there. Nothing comes close. In fact, without oil, we would have no fertilizer or farm machinery to grow food and we would have no fuel to run pumps to deliver water. Also, alternative energy is in reality little more than a myth. We have no choice but to maintain a presence of some kind in the region in order to have access to buy Middle Eastern oil. The alternative is to go back to the stone age.

After September 11th, it dawned on someone that these people really hate our way of life and foreign policy. This way of life that we love is a result of our foreign policy to a great extent. Now... that being said, don't you think if these people in the middle east were allowed to create a nuclear weapon that they would use it on us? Not the state (Iraq, Iran, etc) we are able to keep them in check to a great degree. But it's the loose organisations like Hezbollah and Al Quaeda that you can't really hold a nation accountable for that will use them.

Food for thought. Maybe you can figure out the rest.

Oil, because worlds largest reserves of petroleum are found in the middle east and large amounts are imorted to the states. Your goverment want to turn some of these places in to democorceys to help get oil cheaply. Notice there isn't much concern about other contries even closer such as cuba and guess what, no petrol in cuba.

if the middle east would leave us alone and stop terrorizing the rest of the world then we would have no problem or business there. However the extremists from these countries do much harm and terrorizing other nations and frankly many of these countries either support them or turn their shoulder. So we have a problem with these people and countries and its not an easy solution.

"The infamous gas attack took place in mid-March 1988 in the Kurdish town of Halabja, the crossroads of an ongoing battle waged between a joint Kurdish-Iranian force and the Iraqi army. Caught in the middle were innocent civilians, including women and children. "

"Since the Saddam Hussein regime was overthrown in May, 270 mass graves have been reported. "

"U.S. soldiers found 173 incarcerated men, some of them emaciated and showing signs of torture, in a secret bunker in an Interior Ministry compound in central Baghdad"

If they do that to their own people, who else would they do it too?

Especially when we have problems south of our border with the illegal drugs, corruption, immigration, etc...

Lets solve the matter in the Middle East and bring the troops home, ASAP.
